The YMCA of Centre County is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and experienced Wellness Coordinator to join our team at the State College YMCA. This position plays a key role in helping members achieve their health and wellness goals while supporting the YMCA’s mission of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
The Wellness Coordinator works under the supervision of the Sports & Wellness Director and assists in the daily operation of the fitness center, supervision of group exercise programming, and overall wellness initiatives.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide 40 hours of direct service each week, including approximately 25 hours of personal training and group exercise instruction.
- Build and maintain a personal training client base by engaging with members and providing exceptional customer service.
- Collaborate with the Sports & Wellness Director to develop and implement innovative wellness programs for diverse populations.
- Conduct new member fitness center orientations as needed.
- Enforce fitness center policies and safety guidelines.
- Assist in supervising part-time fitness center staff.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the fitness center and gymnasiums.
- Monitor fitness equipment and promptly report maintenance concerns.
- Support membership growth and retention through outstanding member engagement and service.
- Foster positive communication and relationships between staff and members.
- Serve as part of the YMCA leadership team by assisting with special events, fundraising campaigns, building supervision, and community outreach efforts.
- Support annual fundraising campaigns by helping recruit, train, motivate, and oversee volunteers and staff participation.
- Share responsibility for housekeeping and facility upkeep.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, or a related field required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in personal training and group exercise instruction.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire individuals of all ages and fitness levels.
- Experience working in a team-oriented environment.
- Current personal training and/or group exercise certifications preferred.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required or ability to obtain upon hire.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Pay: $16.00/hour
- Personal Training Rate: $20.00–$24.00/hour
