Our State College Branch has immediate openings for part-time Personal Trainers to fill daytime shifts. Staff will utilize their fitness and/or personal training background to guide and assist members with fitness equipment by providing personalized attention, support, and motivation. Because a significant portion of our membership includes older adults, candidates should be comfortable working with the aging population and understand the importance of creating a safe, welcoming, and supportive fitness environment for individuals of varying abilities and fitness levels.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction on the safe and effective use of fitness equipment while maintaining high safety standards.
  • Identify unsafe techniques, correct participants, and suggest alternative exercises.
  • Modify exercises and provide appropriate recommendations based on individual needs, abilities, and health considerations.
  • Build positive relationships with members, including older adults seeking to improve strength, balance, mobility, and overall wellness.
  • Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the fitness facility and the equipment within it.
  • Conduct personal training sessions as needed.
  • Keep the Wellness Director informed of any incidents or problems that may have occurred within the fitness center.
  • Enthusiastically greet members and convey a positive attitude.

Qualifications

  • Education in a health and wellness field OR a personal training certification isĀ REQUIRED.
  • Strong communication skills along with the ability to motivate and encourage a diverse population.
  • Experience working with older adults, seniors, or individuals with varying fitness abilities is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to provide a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment for members of all ages.

Salary/Benefits

  • $18 – $10 per hour.
