Job Summary

Our Bellefonte Branch is seeking a Early Care & Education Director to lead and manage high-quality child care and early childhood education programs. Additionally, this role keeps programs aligned with the YMCA’s mission and values and ensures compliance with Pennsylvania child care regulations. Primary Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of PA Department of Public Welfare (DPW) regulations.
  • Train all child care staff in DPW regulations, PA Keystone Stars standards, the Environmental Rating Scale, and YMCA new staff orientations.
  • Supervise all children at all times, which DPW defines as being physically present and maintaining oversight so staff can see, hear, direct, and access children.
  • Develop and manage programs that meet the individual needs of enrolled children, considering their interests, talents, and learning styles. Treat all children with dignity and respect.
  • Conduct child assessments and portfolios, and schedule parent/teacher conferences throughout the year.
  • Recruit, hire, and evaluate staff annually.
  • Process payroll for department staff.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor the department budget to meet or exceed targets.
  • Complete all administrative paperwork, including attendance records, meal counts, incident reports, supply and equipment requests, parent newsletters, and curriculum.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding families, children, parents, and co-workers.
  • Collaborate with staff and volunteers to support the YMCA’s annual campaign and achieve branch goals.
  • Report incidents promptly to your direct supervisor.

Qualifications (must meet BOTH criteria)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a Human Services field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing a child care facility

Salary & Benefits
